The beaches of Novalja

If Novalja can say we are better then any other part of Croatia, then it's our beaches. Within city borders there are a lot of them and if you should ask a local how many there are, noone will be able to tell you the exact number. Three known beaches have a «Blue flag»; Zrće, Planjka (Trinćel) and Straško. Others are bigger or smaller, sandy, gravel or stone beaches. There is something for everyone, from wild and secluded to big and crowded ones. We give you an oversight of the most famous beaches you should visit. However, if you want to see all of our beaches, it would take you years to explore them all.

Zrće

There is no need to talk about Zrće, we all know of the beach and what goes on there. From the classic sea and sun, this is the beach where you can swimm and take a shot at drinking fruitty cocktails in one of the many caffe bars and disco clubs. The brave ones among you can try bungee jumping and foam-parties at the «after beach party time». When the sun goes down Zrće turns into heaven for all the techno fans and party lovers. Aside from that, Zrće really is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic and is definitelly worth seeing, day or night time. We recommend it!

Caska

Caska is a beach for everyones liking; if you like sand, there is a sandy part. But if you like gravel or stone beaches, you would also like Caska. Parking is free for this beach, which is right next to Zrće. Caska's location is specific because it was once a great town Cissa, and there are legends and stories of it's past. One of the legends states that the town was simply flooded because it's people were insolent, and only a poor woman was saved because she climbed a near hill with her children. Be that as it may, visit Caska for yourself and experience it's beauty and importance first hand. We recommend it!

Planjka (Trinćel)

Planjka beach is a «Blue flag» holder in the vicinity of Stara Novalja (Old Novalja). You can enjoy the comfortable sea and atmosphere with your entire family. This is an ideal beach for children; it's largely sandy and the sea temperature is pleasant all season long. Extra activities include beach-volley, water slide, pedal...It's a must see!

Babe

Babe is situated at the end of a long promenade along the sea. It's lost some of its popularity lately, but it is still beautiful and atracts a lot of locals and tourists. Once, a boat or a bicycle were the only way to get to Babe, but today it's more approachable so you can visit it every day and take a swimm in one of many beaches of Novalja.

Straško

Straško beach is home to one of the most beautiful autocamps on the Adriatic coast. It was awarded the «Blue flag», it's mostly a gravel beach and has a forrest nearby, so it's ideal for those who prefer less sun. Being a part of the autocamp, Straško offers plenty of extra activities.

Lokunje

Lokunje is located near town centre. Ideal for those who don't have time to go looking for a different beach or to go night swimming. It very close to a hotel and a forrest, and is a perfect setting for long walks along the sea because it's next to a promenade. We definitely recommend you take a walk on the beach (whether during the day or night), but we wouldn't recommend swimming.

Prnjica

Prnjica is a recently discovered beach on the North end of the island. It's located in a bay not far from Zrće. A sandy beach, ideal for children and families, but also for everyone else who enjoys sandy beaches with long shallow ends. The peacefull atmosphere of the beach is complemented by the beautiful landscape and the inviting sea. We recommend you visit!

Čista

Čista is also located in the North. It's neighbours are Prnica and zrće, the sea is very clear and the coast is a sandy beach. It's also convenient for those who love sandy beaches and shallow sea. You can reach Čista by car and just enjoy it's beauty and all the blessings this one and all the nearby beaches offer.

Ručica

Ručica is an undiscovered sandy beach you can reach by passing Canyon way in the vicinity of Metajna. This is a beach that invites you with it's clear water and wonderful landscape. It's perfect for those of you enjoy quiet and natural beaches. We recommend it!

But don't this is everything that novalja has to offer. There are plenty more beaches, especially the smaller, wild beaches, those for adventurers and everyone else. The only sure way to see all of these, and all the rest of the beaches on Novalja is to come to Novalja and look, look, and look...
